HELLO FROM ME

Hi, I’m Bridie – the face behind Why You Create 👋

A PR strategist dedicated to shining a spotlight on small businesses. But I won’t do your PR for you… because I believe you can do it yourself.

Bridie, owner of Why You Create, is sitting on a teal sofa with a dog and looking out the window.

I’m here to help you find your voice and get your name out there so you can build visibility and brand awareness, demonstrate your expertise, and build your reputation as a small business owner.

People often tell me they think PR is a mystery and they have no idea how to start pitching for press and opportunities.

I want to make it ridiculously easy for customers to find you and trust you.

My mission is to unveil the PR process, walk you through creating an easy-to-follow PR strategy, and empower you to feel confident doing your PR yourself.

My goal is for you to gain confidence in putting your voice out into the world.

My background

I now have a 10 year career under my belt working in PR and communications, following six years at University studying Art History (ya gal has a 1st and a Masters)

I worked for some of the world’s most pioneering curators and artists at some of the UK’s most progressive art galleries, including the Serpentine Galleries, Institute of Contemporary Arts, Whitechapel Gallery, as well as award-winning PR agencies.

I led PR campaigns from obscure to celebrity and from local to global. I developed partnerships with BBC Arts, Dazed Media, Arts Council England, NOWNESS, Swarovski, Max Mara, Artek, and Crossrail.

Why I started my own business

I started my own business because, like many founders, deep down I trust in my own voice. I wanted to break free from working for someone else to fully unleash my creativity, share my ideas, and see genuine improvement for the people and causes I work on.

A few personal things

I live in Bristol with my civil partner, Rich. In no particular order, I love: reading, learning, sunbathing, cycling, skiing, forest walks, mountain walks, coffee, writing, doing nothing with friends but chatting and laughing, doing things with friends, going ‘away’, being arty, making things, and eating sweet things.

A fun fact about me is that when I was 14, I became the National Cycling Champion and National 200m Record Holder. Cycling at that level left quite an impression on my poor lil teen self. l learnt the value of mindset, dedication, resilience, grit, failure, heartbreak, and why no matter how much something means to me; fun is essential.

Another fun fact is my weirdest job was working for £40 a day in an artist’s house alongside her whip display.

About Why You Create

Why You Create is for independents who want to learn how to do PR themselves, in a way that’s right for them.

You know your business best and you want to feel in control about your business visibility and growth. Learning the skills to spot opportunities to promote yourself will help you stay consistent with promoting yourself and stop you from feeling like you’re relying only on social media for reading new people.

PR is not just media relations and press coverage, it’s getting your voice and brand out there to meet your ideal people. There are so many opportunities to raise your profile and build your reputation, and I want to help you feel confident to go after them and spread the word about what you do.

I’ll help you share your story, with the right people, in the right places.

Values I hold the business to:

PROGRESSIVE

I’m always looking to improve and reinvent.

CONVICTION

I will always stay accountable to a strong moral compass.

DOWN TO EARTH

I have no time for fakery or illusion; I’m here for authentic connections.

FUN

We’re all here to bring joy into our lives, right? Fun, ultimately, is the most important goal.
